East Coast Windows & Conservatories TV Success
At the Conservatory Outlet we are proud to have been approached on a number of occasions to supply and install a conservatory on Carol Vorderman's "Better Homes" program as part of their 'property makeover'.

Conservatories feature in many of the makeovers, as they are so versatile and can make a real difference to your quality of life as well as adding substantial value to your property.

Our reputation for high quality products and excellent service led to our first invitation to work on a makeover project in Solihull. The crew were so delighted by our professional approach and standards of craftsmanship that we have since appeared on numerous other projects.

Although Better Homes appears to produce results that some of us may only ever dream of, at the Conservatory Outlet we have solutions to suit nearly everybody's budget and requirements - come and see for yourself!

With the right advice, the right design, and the right price, here at the Conservatory Outlet we are confident that we can make your home a Better Home.

Here are some reminders of the makeovers we have worked on:

Ossett, West Yorkshire

Better Homes

In the summer of 2002, at the Conservatory Outlet we were commissioned to build a conservatory for a semi-detached house in Ossett, West Yorkshire. Stephanie Dunning was keen to create something a bit different. She specified a 5m x 3.5m Gable-fronted conservatory, but sprayed dark green externally, and cream internally.

The Wilson family were delighted with the new room to their house, especially as it added £22,000 onto the value of their property.

Solihull, Birmingham

Solihull

Over 8 million viewers were treated to an impressive Edwardian style conservatory that transformed this property in Solihull, Birmingham.

Nuneaton, Leicestershire

Nuneaton

On this series of Betterhomes, at the Conservatory Outlet we were asked to help with the show in Nuneaton. The Betterhomes designer, Sue Pitman, was looking to achieve a modern design, incorporating a large area for living and dining.

We created a P-Shape design with a glass roof incorporating Aqua-clean self-cleaning glass. All glazing complies with the new building regulations, using Pilkington K glass.

Warrington, Lancashire

Warrington

The Conservatory Outlet teamed up again with designer Stephanie Dunning for their fourth Betterhomes conservatory.

Once again, Stephanie requested a sprayed conservatory - this time in anthracite grey (RAL 7016). We suggested going for a design with a gable end at each side, and a box gutter running across the house wall. This type of design would typically be used for a bungalow situation but we felt it created an ultra modern feel.

'Conservaglass' was specified for the roof, as it has excellent qualities that will help keep a conservatory cool in the summer and warm in the winter. These days a conservatory can be used all year round!

Diy SOS TV Show

Soon after the first Better Homes conservatory was shown on ITV, the BBC were on the phone asking us to install a conservatory for their rival show DIY SOS.

Before & After

The small gable-fronted conservatory was installed in Old Trafford, Manchester.

Conservatory Outlet dealer, West Yorkshire Windows, was chosen by Granada television to put right a House of Horrors in a brand new programme due to be aired in summer 2006.

Granada found victims Mr and Mrs Jones from a national newspaper story which told how they spent over £40,000 on legal fees trying to sort out their conservatory. The Jones’ were awarded £79,000 after an independent surveyor was brought in who found 180 different faults with the conservatory. But Mr and Mrs Jones didn’t get a penny as the company who installed the conservatory went into administration.

“The state of the conservatory was disgusting,” explains Andrew Glover, Managing Director of West Yorkshire Windows. “The whole building moved several inches when even light pressure is put on the frames. In one part there were no fixings between the corner post and the window frame. Dreadful installations like these give the industry a bad name.  West Yorkshire Windows were pleased to be representing professional installers. The filming schedule was tight but we were happy to take part and to give Mr and Mrs Jones the new conservatory that they’d hope for.”

Both the producers and Mr and Mrs Jones were delight with the end result claiming it was ‘even better’ that they could have ever expected.
